Shakti Movie Review - Shakti Review - Shakti Telugu Movie Review: Aswini Dutt said that Shakti is the highest budget movie ever in Telugu. Jr. NTR stated that except him no one else can do this film. Meher Ramesh added that late NTR would be once again seen on screen in this film, such is the intensity of Rudra character, he told.

Well, after hearing such statements from the hero, producer and the director, anyone on earth would expect an earth shattering film. Shakti did shatter, not the earth but all the hopes and expectations. This is one of the poorly made high budget films in the past ten years. Read on Shakti Movie Review…

Story:
Egyptians (Sonu sood, Pooja Bedi) eyes Shakti Peethams in India to get their mummies back to life. However, they come to know that it is not an easy task to get that Shakti Trishoolam as it was guarded by Rudra (NTR Jr.). Sonu Sood dies in his hands when he tries to get that Trishoolam. His wife (Pooja Bedi) avenges her husband’s death and takes an oath to fulfill his desire. After 27 years, when the time arrives, she sends his men to get the Shakti Trishoolam. For that she has to kidnap Aishwarya (Ileana) who is born with the special powers of Shakti Matha. She is safeguarded by Shakti (NTR Jr.) and what happens next is the rest of the story.

Analysis:
Meher Ramesh seems to have a knack of picking the format of previous blockbusters and writing a new story in the same lines. His first film Kantri is a poor copy of Pokiri and it deservedly ended up as a flop. After making a below average film Billa, which is again a remake of Tamil hit, Meher is back in business.

Now, he took a cue from the biggest blockbuster of Tollywood, Magadheera and has written a story based on Shakti Peethams. When Magadheera is still afresh in the minds of Tollywood audience, making a film on the same lines is a bad idea. And when crores of rupees are at stake it is even more disastrous.

Shakti opens on a dull note. The concept of involving Egyptians in to this story didn’t work at all. The film is set up in 1984 and 2011 where the people are civilized and the kingly rule was vanished. But the director deliberately ignored many logics and blindly told whatever he felt like. May be he might have thought that anything is possible in a socio fantasy flick. When he has involved politicians, police and also military into this it is no longer a fantasy film, especially when the director revealed the period of time that the story is running in.

Even after ignoring logical errors, Shakti seems unconvincing and meaningless due to the lackluster script. The narrative too weak that you lose focus on the happenings within no time. First half of the film is sheer time waste. Interval twist is borrowed from Pokiri again.

The flashback part involving Rudra character has to be the lifeline for this film. But sadly that has turned out to be the major disaster. Meher Ramesh directly lifted dialogs and happenings from Magadheera in this part. Even NTR’s getup and outfit resembles to that of Charan’s in it. When the director faltered at the crucial juncture, there is no way that a film could survive. He might have tried to end the film with some sense so that the audience might have given him grace points. But the climax is ridiculously horrible.

Performances:
NTR Jr. is the only saving grace in this film. If not for him, audience might have walked out of the auditorium by the interval point. His performance as Shakti is cool. He looked dashing in those blazers in post interval scenes. However, he should have taken care on Rudra’s getup. It didn’t suit him at all. Even NTR diehard fans would be disappointed with it.

Ileana plays a spineless character which hardly gives her a chance to act. She has sizzled in the songs though. Sonu Sood’s role is limited and he is wasted. Pooja Bedi doesn’t know the basics of acting and watching her on screen is sheer torture. Manjari Fadnis played Rudra’s wife. There are hordes of actors in this film and none of them are given a purposeful role. Everyone looked pale and dull due to poor characterizations and bad dialogues.

Tehnicalities:
Mani Sharma’s music is another weak link in this movie. None of the songs are worth hearing repeatedly. Hari giri Nandini… song was good on ears but the director spoilt it with his picturization. Background score is bad too. Keeravani might have done a better job for this film. Dialogues by Satyanand are weak. None of the jokes worked and also the dialogues in crucial scenes are a big let down.

Sameer Reddy’s cinematography is good. Art department did a very good job. So called visual effects aren’t great. Producer has hyped this movie as the costliest film in Tollywood history but the grandeur is completely missing on screen. Except for shooting in number of locations, Shakti doesn’t possess any visual splendor.

Meher Ramesh yet again proved that his skills are limited. He should stick to commercial flicks rather jumping the genres.

Final Word:
Shakti is a major disappointment for all the hype it generated. Now the economics of this film completely depend upon the fate of other releases and holidays season. Given its budget and the high rates it was sold for, Shakti would find it really tough to get into a safe zone.

Ram Gopal Varma, who stopped making films and just ‘marketing’ films, has come up with yet another marketing strategy with this movie. Dongala Mutha is being publicized as the lowest budget film ever in Indian cinema history. It is shot with Canon 5D cameras and has an ensemble star cast. Let’s get into the details of Dongala Muta. Here is the review…

Story:

Sudhir and Rani (Raviteja and Charmi) are husband and wife, who get caught up in a deserted place where there is nothing except a resort. They look for a mechanic to repair the car but in vain. So they decide take some rest in that resort. Soon they discover that they were trapped in that resort. They come to know that they are caught in a dangerous situation. How they find a way out of that place sums up this story.

Analysis:

As this was shot in five days, it understandably lacks a proper script. Ram Gopal Varma tried to pass off a pointless, purposeless film in the name of an experiment. Although his attempt to set a new trend and show people how to make a film in shoestring (literally) budget can be lauded, we can’t accept a film that has nothing to offer. There is nothing in this film except repetitive scenes, dialogues and hidings. It would be a torturous ninety minutes to sit through as it hardly draws your attention. Ram Gopal Varma successfully fooled audience at the expense of some big stars. However, this time he didn’t get much patronage for the first show (poor opening) as people started to disbelieve him. Good for them.

Performances:

Raviteja is fine but is wasted in that aimless role. Charmi irritates you with her broken Telugu. Lakshmi Manchu suits her role. So does Subbaraju and Supreet. Brahmaji looks weird and Prakash Raj is completely unwanted. Brahmanandam is another actor who has gone wasted. Sunil’s role is forced into the film. He is not needed for it.

Tehnicalities:

Dialogues are bad at the best. All the actors repeat the same word in many scenes. Should we credit those as dialogues? Background score is terrible. It is so loud that one can’t help but close their ears in agony. This film is shot on 5D Canon cameras and does it bring a revolution? Certainly not. Only documentaries and short films can be attempted with this technique, not feature films. What is the purpose of making a film when it hardly bears any quality?

Raaj Movie 2011 (Sumanth,Priyamani,Vemalaraman)

 

RGV’s experimental and innovative concept film Dongala Mutha is reaching the big screens worldwide today. RGV has created a record by wrapping up the entire shooting part of Dongala Mutha in just 4.5 days time. Dongala Mutha has raised the curiosity among the viewers, considering the fact that it is being shot in minimum number of days with zero budget cost.
Dongala Muta is an action entertainer with best technology for this movie in an effective way. In which, Ravi Teja and Charmi will be playing the main lead roles and also Ajay and Subbaraju play other leading roles.
Main highlight of the movie is RGV will be taking only 5 days toshoot the entire movie for which runtime directors Puri Jagannath and Harish Shankar added their flavor to it. Prema Kavali Movie 2011

Prema Kavali is yet another love story. It is fresh only in terms of introducing new kids on the block Aadi (son of actor and dubbing artiste Sai Kumar) and Isha Chawla as the lead protagonists. Director K Vijayabhaskar, known for his love stories has helmed a film loaded with action, song and dance to showcase the hero Aadi's fighting and dancing skills. Otherwise the love story is on familiar terrain.

Srinivas (Aadi) loves Prema (Isha Chawla), the daughter of a police officer played by Nasser. Prema is blackmailed by Shafi (on account of a photo that shows she and Srinivas kissing). Since she is scared of her father, she doesn't tell him but confides in her sister-in-law (played by Sindhu Tolani).

She decides to break up with Srinivas because of the kiss. Meanwhile Srinivas returns after a two-month NCC camp. When he comes to know about Prema's decision not to see him, he decides to woo her back. All love stories can't be rosy, so there's Thakur (Dev Gill) as villain. There's a terrorist angle too.

Vijayabhaskar has chosen the beaten path, story wise. He has however got Chota K Naidu as Director of Photography who has enhanced the film with his brilliant and breath-taking camera work. In fact it is the cinematography which stands out -- be it in the songs or the action sequences. Anup Reubens' musical score sounds fine.

Aadi makes a sincere and earnest effort to carry the film on his shoulders. His enthusiasm is reflected on the screen. Aadi is flexible and nimble on his feet and dances well. He tries to downplay his acting and not go over the top. On the whole, he has a product packaged to showcase him well.

Isha Chawla too tries to be subtle. The chemistry between the lead pair is just about okay though Isha looks a bit older than Aadi in a few scenes. Shafi is a good actor but is wasted in such inconsequential roles. The band of comedians like Brahmanandam, M S Narayana and Ali are seasoned enough to do their parts well.

Prema Kavali is one of those love stories with a melange of all commercial elements.

Manasara Telugu Movie 2011

Story :
Vikram (Vikram) is a chicken hearted guy and he has parents (Krishnamohan, Ushasree) who often fight with each other for silly reasons.

Vikram’s father, a bank employee, gets transferred to Rajapalayam in Kerala and this is a small place which is dominated by culture and tradition, not by law. Most of the matters are decided by Kalari Payattu, the ancient martial art. Vikram’s family lives as tenants in the house of Krishnan Kutty (Bhanuchander).

The story takes a turn when Vikram chances upon Anjali (Sri Divya) and it is love at first sight. However, Divya has her own troubles in the form of her lusty bava Rajan Pillai (George) who is the                                                                                               champion in Kalari.
Performances:
Vikram looks alright as a nerd and weakling but then he doesn’t have those photogenic features or the right body language to become a hero. He must go through a lot of grooming if he is planning for a career.

Kadha Screenplay Darsakathvam Appalaraju Telugu movie

Appalraju(Sunil) from Amalapuram is an avid movie buff. He spends most of his day at Rambha theatre in Amalapuram watching films. When his dad(Chalapati Rao) chides his for the same, he swears not to come back to Amalapuram unless he becomes a big director in Tollywood and heads to Hyderabad.In the city, he has a friend Subbulu(Rajesh) who is left Amalapuram years ago to become a hero in Telugu films but in vain. Through him, he attends an audio launch of a film where Appalraju makes contact with Raakhi(Raghubabu) a producer who reads his script 'Nayaki' and decides to help him.Appalraju also manages to get the dates of heroine Kanishka(Saakshi) for his heroine oriented film 'Nayaki'. However, the manager at corporate firm which has to finance this film agrees to fund the project only if a big hero like 'Babu' is in the movie. Though Babu and Kanishka are initially in love with each other, they have a break up once the project is all set to take off.

Story

Rishi (Raviteja) is a ‘pelli kaani’ police officer, who is dying to find someone to marry and settle down in life. He joins a college as Hindi lecturer on a mission. His target is to find the whereabouts of Kittu Bhai (Prakash Raj). Meanwhile he fall in love with student Vinamra (Richa) and when their love is growing leaps and bounds in comes Vaishali (Deeksha Seth), the daughter of Kittu Bhai. Now, Rishi’s mission is to make her fall for him and get the details about Kittu. What happens next can be easily guessed by anyone.

Artists Performance: 

Raviteja is in his usual self. His energy levels are superb and he simply excels in this role without a hint of tiredness.

Richa Gangopadhyaya should work on her expressions if she is planning to have a long lasting career. She doesn’t possess great looks it is mandatory for her to concentrate upon her acting skills.

Deeksha Seth is cute. She suits the role of a multi millionaire. She too needs to learn a bit or two about acting.

Kota Srinivasa Rao is good. Supreeth and Ajay are standard. Sunil comedy hardly works. Brahmaji is fine. Nagababu is apt. Ali is OK. Rao Ramesh is wasted. Prakash Raj has a very little role to play in this film. His wardrobe is weird. Rest of the cast did as per the requirements. Colors Swathi did a cameo.

C. Ram Prasad’s cinematography is good without any unnecessary gimmicks. Gowtam Raju editing is fine. Thaman music is high on energy. Vaishali and Silaka songs are nice. Background score is not bad. Production values are an asset.

Harish Shankar didn’t try to showcase his skills as a director. He has sincerely worked for a commercial success. His desperation is understandable but saying so he should have done something ‘special’ to grab the attention.
