National Library Week is Apr.12th through 18th. To celebrate, the library has a variety of activities planned. On Mon. Apr. 13th at 10am we will be showing the newly released movie The Tale of Despereaux. Based on the Newbery Award winning book by Kate DiCamillo this movie tells the tale of a heroic little mouse who embarks on a noble quest that involves a rat, a ktchen maid and a beautiful princess. This program is free and no registration is required.
On Wed. Apr. 15th from 1 to 2pm we will be holding Games Afternoon. Kids ages 6 and up are invited to come spend an hour playing some board games. Try your hand at some old favorites or test your skills at some new ones. No registration is required for this program.
Also during this week we will be holding a Buy-a-Book campaign. Newly purchased children's books will be on display. You are invitied to come in, look them over an choose one you would like to buy for the library. Bookplates are put in each book purchased and you can be the first one to borrow it! All Buy-a-Book donations are tax-deductible.
Saturday Stories and Crafts will be held on April 25th at 2pm. This program is for kids in Kindergarten and up. Due to limited space, registration is required for this program.
Finally, this is the month to cast your vote for the 2009 3 Apples Award! Kids in grades 3 to 6 are eligible to vote for the Children's Choice Award and kids in grades 7 to 12 can vote for the Teen Choice Award. The lists of the 15 nominated titles for each award are posted in the library. Come in, pick up a ballot and vote for YOUR favorite.
