GBR/LAT/GER/CUB – Brits to host friendly women’s tournament in May

EuroBasket Women-bound Great Britain will host Latvia, Germany and Cuba in friendly tournament next month.

The Brits and Latvians will use the event as a warm-up tournament for June’s Euro Basket in Poland while Cuba will be getting ready for the FIBA Americas Championship for Women in Chile.

The friendly tournament will be played at the Surrey Sports Park from May 18-21.

Great Britain coach Tom Maher said: "I couldn't be happier with the teams British Basketball has assembled to play in our tournament at Surrey Sports Park.  

"Cuba is a traditional world basketball power and Latvia has a couple of players that are legitimate stars of the women's game.  

"Furthermore, playing Germany gives us the opportunity to measure our progress from last year."

Britain played in the same EuroBasket Women qualifying group as Germany last summer and topped the pool.
