Okay, so besides watching So You Think You Can Dance this summer, my other guilty entertainment pleasure has become The Glee Project. It's on a cable channel. I'm not sure which one. However, that doesn't matter because I can watch it on Hulu.
The Glee Project is a reality show. The winner of the contest will become a part of the Glee cast for seven episodes. My guess is that if the character becomes really popular, it could turn into a more permanent role.
Each episode the cast sings two songs. The first song helps determine who gets to spend one-on-one time with a cast member of Glee during rehearsals for the second musical number. The second song is a musical video in which the contestants show off both their singing and acting talents.
The contestants were selected from open auditions held around the country. They had over 40,000 people audition for the show so these folks are the best of the best. They are really talented. They are also unique people. They don't fit the Hollywood stereotype that only chooses the beautiful people. They are short, fat, nerdy, goofy, flamboyant, and clueless.
I know. This is reality television. I know it's not high art. I know there are probably better ways I could be spending my time. The truth is, I kind of like this show. I really like Glee so The Glee Project gives me a little summer fix of Glee beyond reruns.
So, if you're a fan of Glee and haven't watched The Glee Project, I highly recommend it.
Thanks for being a part of my journey!
