The Big Scrap Booking Weekend

What do you talk about when you have a thirteen boy riding in your car? Not much. Especially when he has his iPod blasting in his ears.
This was my experience tonight as I drove my nephew Michael from Northern Kentucky to my brother-in-law Rob and sister Stacey's house. Michael is going to spend the weekend with his Uncle Rob and cousin Cameron while my sisters are participating in a scrap booking weekend. Michael seemed excited to get to Uncle Rob's house. Uncle Kevin is not nearly as exciting as Uncle Rob. Uncle Rob has cable television and an X-Box. Uncle Kevin has neither of these things.
I tried to start a conversation with Michael by asking him if he had seen any good movies lately. He told me he had seen the Green Hornet. He asked me what movie I had seen most recently. I told him The King's Speech. He asked me if this was in black and white. I said "no". Michael then turned up his iPod volume and I turned on the radio.
It was good to see my sisters and the other women who are scrap booking this weekend. They do this every year over the President's Day weekend. I must say, these people are pretty hard-core about their scrap booking. I took Shelly's scrapbook stuff down in the basement of the house where they are staying and I was a bit overwhelmed. Everyone has a table and all kinds of stuff laying out on their tables. There was a lot of colored paper and whatever else they use to scrapbook. They also all have matching cups which adds to the cult-like atmosphere of the weekend. It sounds like everyone is having a good time so far.
My friend Karen and I are meeting the group for dinner tomorrow night. At least I'm hoping we make it to dinner. Tomorrow we walk seven miles as a part of our half-marathon training. I hope that I make it through that and will not need to make a trip to the hospital. Karen and I plan to walk outside. It's supposed to be a bit chilly in the morning but not too bad. I definitely think a nap will be a part of my afternoon tomorrow.
I hope you have a great weekend. Thanks for being a part of my journey!
