Six Mile Day

Today my friend Karen and I walked six miles in preparation for walking the Flying Pig half-marathon. I must say that I really felt a sense of accomplishment when we were done. I also felt really tired. I don't know that I have walked six miles in quite some time. My body ached a bit. I came home and have not done much except laundry. I took a nice nap this afternoon. This seems to be my regular Saturday routine now.
Each day, I can feel myself getting more and more prepared for walking the half-marathon. I get a little anxious about it. I am wondering if I am going to reach a point at which I get too tired and can't go on.
The good news is that I now know I can walk six miles without too much trouble. This has been a very good discipline for me. My walking seems to be impacting me both physically and spiritually. As I walk, I experience renewal. I also experience wonderful conversation with my friend Karen whenever we are able to walk together. I also like walking by myself. It gives me time to think and reflect and renews my mind and body. This gives me time to talk and listen to God.
I don't know how actually to explain it, but God seems to be doing a new thing in me through all of this. My walking has been a wonderful gift.
Thanks for being a part of my journey!
