Tomorrow I'm attending a wall raising service for a house that TriState Habitat for Humanity is partnering with a family to build in Hamilton, Ohio.
This is our Habitat affiliate's second Women Build house. Women Build is Habitat’s volunteer program for women who want to learn construction skills and make a difference by building homes and communities. The mission of HFHI’s Women Build program is to enable U.S. and international affiliates to recruit, educate and nurture women to build—and advocate for—simple, decent and affordable houses.
Women Build projects are regularly held by Habitat affiliates across the United States, and by Habitat organizations around the world. Women at these builds have furthered Habitat’s home-building mission by helping to construct more than 1,750 houses.
It looks like we are going to have a good crew out tomorrow for the first Saturday work day. It will be exciting to see construction of this house move forward. I can't wait to see the expressions on the family members' faces as the walls of their house are raised and put into place.
This is just one more reason why I am so grateful to be a part of the ministry of Habitat for Humanity.
I hope you have a great weekend. Thanks for being a part of my journey!
